An occasion when you travel from one place to another, especially when there is a long distance between the places.
Hey there, I’m Jim!
Who’s Jim? What are these Journeys?
For years I traveled to over 20+ countries working in the corporate world. It was an amazing ride to get to see so many places! Like a lot of folks on business trips though, I didn’t always get to spend much time in the places I visited or experience the area like I wanted to. So after leaving the corporate life I decided I wanted to continue traveling and seeing these brilliant places – so long as I could travel well and spend time enjoying the sights. So now I am traveling and spending some real quality time in wonderful locations, meeting the people, and learning about the culture there.
Corporate travel expense accounts are great for business and first class flights, great accommodations, and lovely restaurants. But what happens when you are no longer in the corporate world and still want to travel like you did before? Follow along with me and I will show you ways to hack airfares, places to stay and to get around for less without giving up on comfort! Join me as I travel in my own style; Jeans, Boots and First Class!

We traveled around a bit when I was growing up but it was primarily in Napa, CA.
After high school I left home to cowboy in the high Mojave Desert. Talk about your contrasts! It was 110° F in the summer and then it was -10 ° F and snowing in the winter. Those were long days in the saddle surrounded by 157,000 acres of desert where everything tried to stick you, bite you, stampede you, buck you off or dry you up & blow you away… [see the blog]
After that I went to college on California’s lovely Central Coast. During a summer break I worked in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. I fell in love with that country and my future bride! After college we got married and moved back to the mountains where we worked for some outstanding guest ranches. Over time I started working with hotels and managed a number of properties until we didn’t want to move around any more.
I hired on with a fairly young startup company and stayed for 20+ years in the corporate world of Communications. That life allowed me to travel and see many places. Now I’m going back to re-visit some of those places to spend more time there and visit lots of new ones. I have been very lucky to have my bride by my side all these 30+ years to share in this amazing ride and I can’t wait to see what’s going to be next!
I hope you’ll enjoy traveling along, learning about these brilliant locations, and get some travel tips on the best ways to travel in style without breaking the bank!
